New Agilent 1260 Infinity II LC system delivers higher level of operational efficiency
Stefanie Kreppenhofer, Agilent Product Manager for Analytical HPLC
Today’s busy laboratories cannot afford downtime. So, it is critical that the LC platform used in these time-constrained labs is robust and reliable. Forming the solid foundation of the Agilent InfinityLab family, the new Agilent 1260 Infinity II LC combines the latest technology with perfectly matched columns, supplies. Add our OpenLAB software and CrossLab services for utmost confidence in your daily results—every day in every way.
Experience everyday analytical efficiency
Analytical efficiency determines the quality of analytical data, thus providing scientists with confidence in their final results. With a broad range of modules for solvent delivery, sample handling and detection, the Agilent 1260 Infinity II LC (Figure 1) provides the flexibility you need to solve analytical challenges. The Agilent 1260 Infinity II Binary Pump and the Agilent 1260 Infinity II Quaternary Pump both deliver pressures up to 600 bar at a flow rate up to 5 mL/min. Additionally, the 1260 Infinity II Quaternary Pump handles a flow rate up to 10 mL/min for semi-prep applications. These pumps integrate well with Agilent InfinityLab Poroshell 120 columns to ensure fast (UHPLC) separation at high resolution. Each column can be supplied with a permanently fitted column ID tag that is preprogrammed with details of the stationary phase and dimensions. When in use, history can be tracked, showing which column is installed. This allows users to achieve fast, reliable results, as well as develop methods quickly and easily.
Agilent InfinityLab Quick Connect fittings make column installation a simple task, providing leak-free connections with zero dead volumes—even after hundreds of reconnections. Plus, a connection can be completed in just a few seconds. The Agilent InfinityLab LC series allows users to choose the detection technique that meets their application requirements, including UV-visible, fluorescence, refractive index, evaporative light scattering, or mass-selective detection (Figure 2).
Achieve everyday instrument efficiency
Instrument efficiency is measured by sample and column capacity and flexibility for different needs and workflows, as well as ease of use. The Agilent 1260 Infinity II Multicolumn Thermostat (Figure 3) can hold up to four 30 cm columns. Columns can be selected automatically through an InfinityLab 4-column Quick Change switching valve, eliminating the need to disconnect and reconnect columns. Next-generation InfinityLab Quick Connect heat exchangers allow users to regulate precolumn solvent temperature for reproducible retention times and peak areas.
Handling both vials and microtiter plates, the Agilent 1260 Infinity II Multisampler (Figure 4) is a compact autosampler with a capacity of up to 6,144 samples, all within the footprint of an Agilent LC stack. With Agilent’s unique dual-needle design, cycle times can be reduced efficiently using smart overlapped injections and sample handling in parallel. And, with the multiwash capability, carryover can be reduced to less than 10 parts per million. The most comprehensive and fully traceable management of the Agilent 1260 Infinity II LC—including instrument control, result generation, data management, and advanced reporting—is provided by Agilent OpenLAB CDS software
Realize everyday laboratory efficiency
Laboratory efficiency can be measured by how well the instruments are integrated into laboratory infrastructure. The Agilent 1260 Infinity II LC provides seamless transfer of legacy methods and the possibility to upgrade stepwise—now and in future. Flow path and mixing behavior have been designed so that a method developed on an 1100 or 1200 instrument can be directly transferred without any changes. New modules can be added to older equipment, such as the Agilent 1100 or 1200 Series LC for stepwise increase in efficiency and the highest protection of current investment.
Agilent OpenLAB CDS is the perfect companion for your 1260 Infinity II LC and 6100 Series Single Quadrupole LC/MS. For more demanding LC/MS applications, Agilent MassHunter gives you combined control of your Agilent LC and triple quadrupole or quadrupole time-of-flight LC/MS. The Agilent 1260 Infinity II LC can be controlled by any major chromatographic data system in any laboratory infrastructure via the instrument control framework (ICF) facilitating the integration.
