Agilent X-gal (5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-β-D-galactopyranoside, BCIG) is a premium quality chromogenic substrate of β-Galactosidase. It is used with cloning systems that utilize β-galactosidase activity as an indicator of successful cloning.
X-gal has been shown to enhance analysis capabilities in applications in which ß-galactosidase activity is an indicator of non-recombination.
