xCELLigence RTCA DP - Cell Invasion & Migration
The three cradles of the DP instrument enable three separate electronic 16-well plates to be controlled and monitored in parallel or independently of one another. This flexible plate batch processing allows maximum productivity for multiple users. The instrument operates in a standard CO2 cell culture incubator and the control unit is housed outside the incubator.
Online data acquisition and offline data analysis are easy to perform using RTCA Software Pro, which also supports FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.

Product Details
- xCELLigence RTCA DP model can run up to three separate electronic 16-well plates (E-Plate 16 or CIM-Plate 16)
- Each well in the CIM-Plate 16 is an electronically integrated Boyden chamber, which enables the monitoring of cell invasion and migration in real-time (at second or minute intervals) without exogenous labels
- Non-invasive and label-free real-time impedance assay using E-plate 16 measures cell health, viability, or response to treatments with high sensitivity, accuracy, and reproducibility
- Obtain continuous data at high temporal resolution (from seconds to days)
- Easy workflow allows users to simply add cells to E-plates and begin kinetic measurements at physiological conditions, with minimal hands-on time
- Intuitive RTCA Software Pro allows for analysis of real-time data to generate diverse plot types and automatically calculate parameters such as % of cytolysis, IC50 or KT50
- RTCA Software Pro supports FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance to ensure electronic data integrity
Cellular Impedance Explained
The functional unit of a cellular impedance assay is a set of gold microelectrodes fused to the bottom surface of a microtiter plate well. When submersed in an electrically conductive solution (such as buffer or standard tissue culture medium), the application of an electric potential across these electrodes causes electrons to exit the negative terminal, pass through bulk solution, and then deposit onto the positive terminal to complete the circuit.
