Agilent Technologies China and The China Young Volunteers Association (CYVA) have teamed together in a unique partnership that is directly improving the education for thousands of rural Chinese children.
Under the partnership, graduates from top universities such as Beijing University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University and Fu Dan University are selected to be the members of the Post-Graduate Teachers Troupe. These elite students volunteer to take one year away from their studies to teach children in the remote poor rural areas. The students focus on primary education and the emphasis is on basic subjects such as mathematics and natural knowledge.
These university graduates resume their post-graduate studies after their year in rural teaching.
CYVA is the only countrywide social organization that engages voluntary services. Since its establishment 6 years ago, the Association has organized voluntary services of more than 4.1 billion hours contributed by 80 million volunteers in many fields of society.
