Content This set contains information on the Emulation mode for LC modules.

In November 2014, Agilent Technologies released the InfinityLab LC series platform. This platform replaced the 1260 and 1290 Infinity series platform.

The InfinityLab LC series extends the capabilities even further with new LC modules, enhanced performance of standard modules, design changes, and new support capabilities.

Information about Emulation Mode is maintained and provided in Lab Advisor. How to lookup possible Emulation mode(s) for a LC module:
In Lab Advisor -> go to "Apps" -> select "Diagnostic Catalog" -> select the "Device Class" and "Device Type" -> Emulation of possible module(s) is showing under "Conversions".

Please visit the Lab Advisor Software Product page (DOWNLOADS) to download the current version of Lab Advisor

In July 2010, Agilent Technologies released the 1260 Infinity LC System platform. This platform replaces the 1200 Series LC.

The new 1260 Infinity LC System platform extends the capabilities even further with new LC modules, enhanced performance of standard modules, design changes, and new support capabilities.

To protect the 1200 Series LC investment, the 1260 Infinity LC modules are fully backwards-compatible. In the 1200 Emulation Mode individual 1260 modules can be added to 1200 Series LC systems or complete 1260 Infinity LC systems can be operated with existing Agilent and third-party control software.

All 1260 Infinity LC modules are shipped with A.06.32/B.06.32 or later firmware.

The following new 1260 Infinity LC modules allow emulation of 1200 series modules:

  • G1310B Isocratic Pump (replaces G1310A)
  • G1311B Quaternary Pump (replaces G1311A)
  • G1311C Quaternary Pump VL (replaces G1311A)
  • G1312C Binary Pump VL (replaces G1312A)
  • G1314F VWD (replaces G1314D)
  • G1321B Fluorescence Detector (replaces G1321A)
  • G1367E Autosampler (replaces G1367A/B/C/D, for D hardware upgrade is required)

The following 1260 Infinity LC modules allow emulation of 1200 series modules:

  • G1316C TCC (G1316A/B) uses the standard firmware A.06.10/30
  • G1314B VWD (G1314A)
  • G1314C VWD (G1314A/B)
  • G1329B Autosampler (G1329A)
  • G1312B Binary Pump (G1312A)
  • G5611A Bio-inert Quaternary Pump (G1311A/B)
  • G5664A Bio-inert Fraction Collector (G1364C)
  • G5667A Bio-inert HP ALS (G1367C/E)

The following 1260 Infinity LC modules require special firmware for downgrade due to hardware changes:

  • G1312B Binary Pump
  • G1376A Capillary Pump
  • G2226A Nanoflow Pump

If you have to use an Agilent ChemStation below B.04.02 DSP3 [256] or a 3rd party control software that cannot work with the instruments listed above, you can use the "1200 Infinity Compatibility and Emulation Mode" to make the modules compatible with your current control software.

If for example a G1310A pump is replaced by a new G1310B pump, you can use the new pump without installing and validating new control software. There is a set of firmware files available, which let the above listed modules act like their 1200 equivalent modules.

At shipment start only the A.06.32 firmware allows the emulation, showing up as firmware A.06.32 firmware only.

Lower versions are based initially on the latest version within the sets A.06.1x/B.06.1x and A.06.02/06.

User interfaces that were tested for example with A.06.10 should normally also work with A.06.16. If a released version does not operate with the used software, requests for a specific revision must be send via the Agilent Sales/Support Organization and will be added to this location when available (usually within 2 weeks after receiving the request).

Detailed information on the 1200 Infinity Compatibility and Emulation Mode can be found in the FWUpdate_Infinity.pdf available in set Firmware Update Tools & Procedures.

A quickstart of the "1200 Infinity Compatibility and Emulation Mode" for addig a new module into a system is given in the download section below.

NOTE: Although an OQ/PV may not be necessary after FW upgrade (unless it's mentioned in the firmware history document), the IQ attachment form should be used to document the upgrade.
